Finasteride

Finasteride is a medication primarily used to treat two common conditions in men: benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia).

In the case of BPH, which is an enlargement of the prostate gland that can cause urinary problems, finasteride helps by reducing the size of the prostate. It does this by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone, a male hormone, into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is a more potent form of testosterone that contributes to prostate growth.
