Functional Neuro Therapy is a multidisciplinary approach to treating Functional Neurologic Disorder (FND), focusing on retraining the brain to restore normal function through targeted exercises and interventions. It is based on the understanding that the brain has neuroplasticity, meaning it can change and adapt in response to experiences, injuries, or diseases. It involves a team of healthcare professionals who work together to manage and reduce symptoms such as movement problems, cognitive issues, and speech difficulties. This therapy is patient-specific and based on an initial Wavi scan, which is used to locate dysfunctional connections, connections of compensation, and healthy connections within the brain. Healthy connections and the behavior of neural frequencies are then used to create a specific therapy plan dedicated to creating neural plastic changes within and surrounding the affected areas. The goal is to help patients overcome these inhibiting neurological symptoms, improve daily functioning, and enhance their quality of life.

Unlike traditional rehabilitation, which might focus more on isolated muscle or movement training, functional neurotherapy emphasizes the brain’s role in guiding these actions. It integrates aspects of physical, occupational, and cognitive therapies, tailoring exercises to the specific needs of the patient. Techniques can range from balance and coordination exercises to cognitive tasks that challenge memory or problem-solving, depending on the area of the brain affected. The goal is to help the brain rewire itself, fostering improved communication between different brain regions and ultimately enhancing the patient’s functional abilities.
